Starting the season off with three loses rarely bodes well for any high school team, but those three games propelled the Wildcats into doing the unthinkable. Not only did they win the next nine to win the class 4 title, but they also reached the state championship game against Kearney High School. This was the first time since 1969 that two Kansas City teams had reached the final game. The game ended in favor of Harrisonville 21-14 bringing the school’s state trophy number to 5.
“I couldn’t imagine being here and winning it during those three weeks. We just really came together that (next) week, and things just kind of fell into place.” – Quarterback Brandon Eickhorst
This new turf is representation of all the hard work that goes into not only a football team’s success but all of the Harrisonville athletic teams that can utilize this field. This new field not only will look great for the returning champions but also for the soccer teams as well.
Harrisonville High School was one of Mid-America Sport Construction’s first synthetic turf installations in 2005 and after 12 years of seeing 4 state titles, 2 undefeated seasons, and a 64-9 home record, Mid-America was honored to help continue that success.
The turf that is being installed not only will help in giving the Wildcats one of the best aesthetic looking fields but will also ensure the safety of each player. The AstroTurf 3D series that was installed at Harrisonville High includes a RootZone system, which is a texturized layer of fibers that draw down to encapsulate infill. This results in minimal rubber splash, better shock absorbency, and less infill migration than basic systems. All of this improves the safety for each player, the playability, and the durability of the field.
